Hi Tara! I did read the article and thought it was fairly balanced and that the author made some good points for pondering.

However, there was one thing that I thought might be worth questioning.

Don’t you think he sort of draws a false dichotomy when he writes:
“One type of church says ‘we exist to have our personal spiritual needs met’, the other ‘we exist to impact our locality and the world with the gospel of the grace of God in Christ’. The first type is a stalled church.”

My take is that the Church is called in the scriptures to do both of these. Otherwise, why bother to to go church? I can just go out and be my own personal missionary (been there done that – not so good.)
