Tim Challies’ Review of Peacemaking Women
Of all the reviews I have received over the years, The Discerning Reader / Tim Challies review of my first book, Peacemaking Women, is one of my favorites. I am honored that he lists this book as “recommended” because I have found the majority of his writings to be Christ-exalting, gospel-centered, biblically-faithful, winsome and WISE.
If you’re interested, I hope you’ll check it out. You can also read what other Christian leaders have said about Peacemaking Women on its endorsement page. Here are a few excerpts:
Ken Sande: “Peacemaking Women is a life-changing book. It contains a wealth of wisdom and encouragement for women who want to learn how to turn any conflict into an opportunity to build deeper and closer relationships.”
Elyse Fitzpatrick: “Peacemaking Women isn’t just another book on communication or conflict resolution. It will open your eyes to the role our idolatrous hearts play in our conflicts and then point you back to the Peacemaker who took peacemaking so seriously He was willing to die for it. I strongly recommend it!”
Chuck Colson: “This book tells the truth. The authors know the struggles of women and they offer hope rooted in God’s Word to transform conflict into grace in lives, families, churches, and communities.”
Dennis E. Johnson (Dean and Professor of Practical Theology, Westminster Seminary California): “Real people populate these pages … their stories, told with refreshing humility and honestly, show how concretely practical the Bible’s theology of peace is, and speak hope that God’s shalom can and does invade our broken lives and relationships in sovereign grace. I highly recommend Peacemaking Women.”
Dan Allender: “This bold and compelling book by two wise Christian mediators and peacemakers is a tour de force in offering a pathway for rebuilding broken relationships … This labor of love will draw you back to the one who gave his life for our peace. Take it and read with hope and courage.”
Oh! How kind of God to allow this book to be published!
we wrote Peacemaking Women!) that we knew it would be the height of insincerity and duplicitousness to publicly proclaim one thing (“Peace! Peace!”) while living the complete opposite (Avoidance, Silent Treatment, Ghosting).
Sitting in that miserable mediation room with my coauthor and two mediators (including the extraordinarily gifted Ted Kober of Ambassadors of Reconciliation), I had absolutely no hope for Judy’s and my reconciliation, or for Peacemaking Women to ever be published. But God is a God who raises the dead! A dead Savior. Dry bones. Dead friendships. Dead marriages. Even dead manuscripts.
I am beyond grateful. And I pray that God will receive all the glory and the praise … and that his children will be encouraged and helped, just like my coauthor and I were.
Oh, how I hate conflict!
But oh, how I love sincere Peace.
And forever and always, oh, how I love the One True Peacemaker!
Your grateful friend,
Tara B.
