“Why would you ever do that?” — The Real Source and Strength of Lasting Compassion
I just learned that my handouts are due soon for the PCA’s upcoming women’s leadership conference:
I would appreciate your prayers as I work to finalize my content. The title for my plenary session is:
“Why would you ever do that?” — The Real Source and Strength of Lasting Compassion
It has already been through one layer of my theology-checkers, so hopefully there is no unintentional heresy in there. (Not being seminary trained, I really rely on the help and oversight of my friends and church leaders.)
I’m also doing two workshops:
Biblical Peacemaking: As the PCA Book of Church Order reminds us, “Biblical peacemaking must be one of our highest priorities.” Are you modeling, teaching, and helping your women to work through conflicts in a biblically-faithful way? Is peacemaking—genuine confession, humble confrontation, and lavish forgiveness—a regular part of your women’s ministry? Or are you more prone to peace-faking? (Smoothing over problems and hoping they will just go away.) Conflicts are messy, time-consuming, and often hurtful, but God gives us everything we need in His Word to respond to our conflicts in redemptive, God-glorifying ways. Please join us at this workshop to review the basic peacemaking theology of Peacemaker Ministries.
Redeeming Group Conflicts: Peacemaker Ministries often says, “Where two or more are gathered in Jesus’ name, eventually there’s going to be conflict.” When those interpersonal conflicts grow into group conflicts, complex challenges arise related to group dynamics, our tendency to “perform on a stage,” and the spiritual blindness that often accompanies group think/mob mentality. If you have ever been in the middle of a conflicted group of people and thought to yourself, “What can one person do?”, then this is the workshop for you. Based on Tara’s second book, Redeeming Church Conflicts, this workshop will equip you with biblical, practical helps from The Acts 15 Model for redeeming group conflicts: Perspective, Discernment, Leadership, and Biblical Response.
And of course I’ll be LiveBlogging the sessions that I’m not speaking at. If you can’t join us in Atlanta next month, please join us on the LiveBlog!
(If you would like to sign up for a reminder for the LiveBlog, you can do so here …)
Hope your weekend is a blessed one!
Yours,
Tara B.
